Vland and ADM Reach a New Cooperation in Health Industry

On March 23, 2021, Vland and ADM signed the agreement of Highland Barley Project at ADM's Shanghai Technology Innovation Center. Mr. Chen Gang, President of Vland, Mr. Liu Yuxiang, President of ADM Asia Pacific, and leading researchers from both enterprises attended the signing ceremony.

In accordance with the agreement, Vland and ADM will make full use of their own advantages in technology and market and conduct cooperation in developing production techniques and applications of highland barley. In so doing, the two parties aim to achieve the whole industry chain development of highland barley in food and beverage sectors and thus make the two sides the leading integrated solutions provider of barley products in China.

In recent years, plant-based foods (vegetable protein foods and drinks, etc.) has gained population among mainstream consumers as it is healthier and more nutritious. Highland barley is a unique highland crop which can only be found in China. It is characterised by high levels of proteins, fibers and vitamins with low fat and sugar. It is rich in natural ingredients of health benefits including β- glucans and γ- amino butyric acids. The Highland Barley Project aims to explore high-value application scenarios of barley by combining the crop of unique Chinese features with high tech and make it an important member in plant-based products.
